Master of Science in Pharmacy

Course of Study

NIPER-Ahmedabad was established with the visionary augmentation of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India in the year 2007. Since then the Institute has an outstanding track record of producing excellent pharmacists, researchers, and academicians to serve the country. NIPER-Ahmedabad has been functioning independently in its own campus at Gandhinagar since 2016 with a state of art research facilities including animal house and central instrumentation facility. Presently, NIPER-A offers Masters programme in eight streams viz. Biotechnology, Natural Products, Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Medical Devices and Pharmaceutical Management and PhD programme in all streams except Pharmaceutical Management.

Qualifying Criteria for award of M.S (Pharm.)

  • The minimum credit requirement for Masters Degree (for MS Pharm.) shall be 50 valid credits including a minimum of 32 credits of course work and 18 credits for the of project work and The requirement for the award of Masters Degree (MBA Pharm.) shall be minimum 100 credits. Out of these 86 credits shall be for the course work, 12 credits for the project work and 2 credits for the summer training;
  • The minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average requirement for the award of the degree shall be 6.00.
  • Where the student after availing the maximum number of repeat examinations, fails to clear the course(s) or fails to earn minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average , the student shall have to discontinue the programme;
  • Having successfully completed the course work, and on the successful completion of research work, the student shall submit the dissertation;
  • After evaluation of research work and successfully clearing the dissertation defence examination, the student shall be eligible for the award of the degree; and
  • The maximum period for completion of the Masters Programme shall be 3 years from the date of joining the Programme.
